Mexican Cuisine
If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

I've been going to El Parasol for years (several locations) but I really enjoy coming to this one. Its close to my house and its great for when I have a craving for New Mexican food. Its fast and delicious. Really love the chicken tostadas with guacamole and lots of salsa. Their salsa can be spicy but thats why I love it. They also have really tasty breakfast burritos here. I prefer their red chile over the green. Some other faves here are the carne guisada burrito, plain old bean burrito, and the unique chilaquiles. This location is really clean and has an atmosphere that you wouldn't mind staying at and dining in, but most of the time I get my orders to go. My only gripe is the prices here have gone up over the years. Its still affordable but I used to be able to grab lunch for myself and a friend for under $10, now its closer to $15 - 20 depending on what we order.

The best of the Santa Fe locations. The tacos are the real deal and the Burritos are the bomb! Also fresh made chips and salsa!!

Addicted. I have always thought tamales were overrated until this place. Seriously, they are stuffed with pork, red chile, and crack. Everything else on the menu is fairly good, platters are overpriced, tacos are delicious but greasy, but the tamales are amazing. Don't go there unless you live nearby, because once you have these tamales you will crave them for life.

Yes. I can't believe that the burgers are so good and these are the best tacos I have ever had. Down the street from Santa Fe. Brewing! Beer and this. I wish I wasn't just passing through.
(5)Jenny B.
The tacos are fine. But the bean burritos (with green chile, of course) are fantasy worthy. Does that sound gross? They're soooo good. And it's close to Santa Fe Brewing! So you can pick up some delicious snacks to enjoy with your beer. Yay!

This place is fine. If you're hungry you'll leave satisfied. But it's really just a glorified Taco Bell in my opinion - with a slightly nicer menu. The food was good but not great. The prices were high. You order at a counter and then someone brings you the food. The chips were probably my least favorite of any restaurant I've eaten in. I see that everyone else seems to really like this place but I have to admit that I don't quite get it. I do like that they some vegetarian options but most of the food was lacking flavor for the money.

This place is great. Home cooked New Mexican style food that is fresh, tasty an well priced for Santa Fe. I had the veggie tacos that were filling and delicious. And my chicken tamale was delicious as well. My boyfriend had the beef tacos and pork tamales. We both give this lil hidden joint two thumbs up! Plus nice outdoor sitting area.

I love this place. To be fair, though, I haven't tried anything else here but the breakfast burritos. However! The breakfast burritos here are big and scrumptious. The bacon is crispy, the eggs are real eggs that they cook just before giving you the burrito, and this place uses home fries (cubed potatoes) rather than frozen, shredded hash browns. The green chili is super tasty.

Price is right!

I might give this place three stars if it wasn't for the amazing shredded beef tacos. Their red sauce (sort of a red chile sauce) is excellent with the tacos. They also have salsa separately I think. Their pasole is decent too. Breakfast burritos are standard and fair. Their prices are a little high. Not sure they have wifi and that would help. I usually get take out, but the outdoor seating is good when the weather cooperates.

So glad El Parasol is on this side of town. My favorite is the Frito pie. Got to stop in if you want some quick and delicious new mexican food.

Had the chile relleno burrito and the vegetarian taco. Both were very excellent. This is a great place to stop for food on the way to or from Santa Fe Brewery.

I love this place...the service is always friendly and fast. Their green chile is so good I'm often tempted to order a bean with green...hold the beans!
(5)Jay K.
I really like this place for their chile relleno burrito however I don't understand why it cost $.50 extra for whole-wheat tortilla. Anyway, it's a great place to get a burrito! They are located by an industrial park and their hours before that. The restaurant is recently built (4-5 years, maybe) and clean but lacks warmth and charm (read: sterile). The servers are very kind and efficient.

El Parasol is definitely AS GOOD AS IT GETS. The time, effort and quality put into their food is proven in the taste. The homemade salsa, chips, tacos, burritos, handmade tamales, chile cheeseburgers, chile cheese dogs are some of my favorites. The prices are very reasonable and the staff is always very friendly. You will be addicted once you try it!!

TACOS ARE INCREDIBLE! I've tried everything on the menu and have never been disappointed. I get the ground beef tacos most of the time I go I highly recomend them. The breakfast burrito is good to for the price it is at and they are always fast and friendly .
(5)Sally C.
Far and away the best fast food burritos, chile, and frito pie in Santa Fe. Second only to the Horseman's Haven. Their hours, however, can be short, but it is assuredly worth the hit and miss.

Awesome place, their Chicken Burrito and Tacos are worth trying, very clean establishment, great service and their prices were great as well. The location on Dinosaur Trail is very clean and away from other businesses as well.

Staff was extremely pleasant and helpful. El Parasol served literally the best tacos I've ever eaten. The vegetarian tacos were remarkable! Excellent value! I'm a fan forever.

I love this place and I miss it all the time! I love their green chile cheeseburger. If I don't feel like having a green chile cheese burger, their avocado burger is just as delicious. Although it's super fatty and greasy, it's totally worth the calories. The space is nice and service is friendly. I haven't been able to find a green chile cheeseburger as good as theirs. Sad that I don't live in Santa Fe anymore but when I go back to visit, I'll definitely come back here.

Being from Albuquerque, I had never heard of El Parasol. All I can say now is I have seriously been missing out! I was visiting some friends in Santa Fe and we were heading for a few beers at Santa Fe Brewing when we decided we should grab some food to bring along. The immediate answer from the Santa Fe natives was El Parasol. Best. Tacos. Ever. Authentic, flavorful, and fresh. I got the veggie tacos at the recommendation of a friend and a calabacitas tamale. Both were outstanding with just the right amount of filling and flavor to balance out the fresh tortillas and masa. The salsas they provide were great complements to the tacos, each with their own notes of heat and flavor. I will definitely be back when I visit Santa Fe next!

I have now tried all the locations for this local chain. This particular location is almsot like the one in Los Alamos. I like it! The tamales are my favorite menu item to order. The tamales are always fresh and have a great balance of meat and masa. The red chile is tasy and a little spicy. The red salsa is HOT. No scooping salsa on a chip for me! So addictive though. Have tried the tacos which were a special and they were good as well.

My favorite place to get tacos and green chili stew i ordered the calabacita burrito over the phone when my husband went to pick up our order they told him the didnt have the calabacitas that they had ran out he got me the veggie burrito with green chili it was pretty amazing so it made up for the calabacita burrito! Also they probably have the best Salsa in santa fe definitely one of my favorite breakfast spots the only down side is its pretty pricy for the tacos and tamales..
(4)Cathryn S.
Hooray for Tacos! The shredded chicken, and shredded beef are just to delicious to pass up.
(4)Lori P.
KEEP DRIVING!!!! How is it that a counter mexican place at the outskirts of no where New Mexico can charge me $12 for a little burrito and huge bag of old chips??? The salsa is red hot, pure chili, and the burrito is tiny for the price. There are hundreds of better options, and you're not paying for the service here, that's for sure!

Friendly staff serving the best tacos in town. For a grab-your-food-and-eat kind of place you can't go wrong here. The dinosaur trail location has plenty of seating- something the other locations sorely lack.
(5)Angelo V.
I actually had stopped going to El Parasol because of the terrible attitudes of the cashiers and my order always being wrong. I decided to give another chance this past Saturday-HUGE mistake. Staff was friendly, on a 3 order item, 1 was wrong, other over cooked- charred and last one didn't make inside the house. They put chili fries in a thin paper bag- and must have spilled it enough to cause bag soil through on my seat for the 3 minute ride home-when i picked up bag all food emptied in car. Obviously a very bad experience, but I thought i would call and let the manager do the right thing- at least get order corrected. No manager on duty, left information and of course manager didn't call back.

Just do it. You could drive right past this place (even with directions and actively seeking it out), but make the effort to circle back if you do. This place was highly recommended by several locals and I can see why. Actually, I'm surprised they sent a tourist this way. This is normally a place that I would try to protect from 'tourists' if I were a local. Boy, I'm glad they weren't as selfish as I can often be. This is the real mccoy...not visually impressive...but what comes from that kitchen is a treat. I ordered hand made chicken and green chili tamales and arroz con pollo soup. This was true southwestern soul food. I will definitely be back while in the Santa Fe area.

Wow. Was pleasantly surprised that my two tacos were so tasty. One chicken. One shredded beef. I chose the red sauce because it was reported to have a kick. It did. Yum. The shells were very fresh and crispy. Total for the two was $4.90.

"Parasol" is one of our very favorite "go to" spots in Santa Fe. It is ALWAYS consistently superior in food quality no matter if you're ordering the legend-wait for it-ary tacos (made famous by the taco stand in 'spaña), a calabacita burrito (with ground beef is my preference), the Tacos Las Brasas special, or even a burger. It's an unimaginable blend of quickly prepared (I guess you could say "fast food") and good old fashioned New Mexican cooking. Ask almost any local and they'll likely speak of Parasol with praise (just like me.) Trust me, you want to eat here.

Five star??? Not by any stretch of the imagination! Salsa & chips, ugh! Pork & Guoc burrito w/ red chili sauce, the worst in town? Get better meal @ a lower $ AND You get waited on at "Horseman's Haven " a mile or so just up Cerrillos.
